News!  June 2020 - May 2021 Tourist Season:

June 2020:

We are kicking off our third year of BTST Memberships with optimism that we have turned the corner on the COVID-19 pandemic. We are excited to see visitors and locals coming back to our shops, businesses, the big attractions and the unique experiences that Clark County has to offer.

In 2019, Jim and his team added 2 new big attractions and more beautiful landscaping around Casey.  The rocking horse was repainted, and 6 more items gained the title of World’s Largest.  The total in Clark County is now 12.

We also welcomed Tiffany Macke and Norma Calvert to our Big Things Small Town Organization.  Our goal for the future is to work with neighboring communities to expand tourism in our area.  Clark County has a lot to offer, and we are excited to join together to encourage visitors to make us a destination or a memorable stop on their journey.

Casey’s first World Record was set in 2012.  The hope was that it would draw tourists to a new cafe.  Since that time, it has become apparent that many businesses can benefit from the interest in the World’s Largest items!  Bringing in tourists, however, is an expensive task!  There are many costs associated with landscaping, maintenance, signage, and promotion.  Our organization was founded in 2016 and is governed by Casey Industries. Our purpose is to help ensure the future of tourism in our area and help small businesses get the advertising, promotion, and media exposure that they could never afford on their own.  We also monitor the established trademarks and regulations to prevent “knock-off” merchandise and to keep the profits in our local community.  We plan opportunities and support events to generate funds that will directly impact our community through the tourism associated with the big attractions.

As our communities continue to grow and change, our organization evolves as well. We look forward to adding more of Clark County to our promotions, as well as inviting more input as we consider the best plans and ideas going forward.

This year, we have simplified our membership program by offering one membership for retailers that plan to sell tourism products and one membership for businesses, organizations and individuals that simply want to show their support and help make a positive impact on their community.  If you would like to be a member, membership fees are due August 1, 2020,  Click here to learn more!
